I noticed while I was walking around in Brookline yesterday that the Coolidge Corner theater is doing a 12 hour marathon of Firefly on the big screen in preparation for Serenity. Information as follows:

The Firefly Marathon

Browncoats get ready! Joss Wedon's movie SERENITY, based on the cult TV show
FIREFLY, hits the screens on September 30th. So, in celebration (and
preparation) of this exciting new sci-fi event (created, as if you didn't

I went to provincetown today with Hazuki and Kakou-san. It was very much fun. Provincetown is so gay :P Highlights:

* Kakou-chan thinking that the rainbow flags were the official Provincetown symbol and considering buying one as a souvenir for her husband. (Hazuki and I both almost snorted our drinks when she said that.)

* Hazuki commenting that she was surprised at how hot all the gay guys were, since the only gay guy she knew to judge by was Phanny.

* Having a sketchy, 40 year-old woman hit on me (ummm...?)

* Buying a pretty skirt and shirt at the hippy store, and another shirt that reads "Why don't you have a nice cup of shut the fuck up?"

* Bouillabaise for lunch! MMMMyum.

* Changing on the beach and inadvertently baring my ass to all of Cape Cod.

* Swimming in the harbor!!!!! YAY!!

* The ferry ride! I love ferries!

Anyways, it was great. I'm meeting them again tomorrow for dinner, and then it's goodbye until... whenever I can convince my parents to let me go to Tokyo. I must make them get livejournals.

(And April, if you're reading--if you ever come visit me, we MUST go to P-town, I want to squeal over all the erm... inside jokes ^^... with someone else.)

I haven't mentioned this before now, because of switching journals and all, but... OMG Hazuki is coming to visit me!~!!!! (Yes, it deserves all the exclamation points.)

I'm thrilled. She and her friend who works at Yotsuya are coming to Boston for a week, starting tomorrow. *happiness* I really didn't think I'd see her again for years. (For those of you out of the loop, Hazuki was my assistant resident director and close friend while I was in Tokyo.)

I'm trying to think of where I should take her--I have finals this week, but I think that's actually good because they'll take less time than class. And I should brush up on my Japanese, which I haven't used since last year >.> oops.

I've given up on writing all-encompassing first entries for new journals, so I thought I'd begin this one by answering the question everyone always asks: why anwyn?

Well. I'd like to say first that it is not "my" name, neither in the birth certificate nor any other significant sense. I more-or-less selected it because a) it sounded pretty, and sounded like anna, which is a name i've always loved; b) it resembles "annwyn" which figures into a lot of the music of my favorite band, Faith & the Muse, and c) because it was available, something that's getting rarer on LJ as time goes on.

Just for the record, it is not a magical name, it does not come from the Mists of Avalon (although I do love that book), and I do not envision myself as some sort of reborn celtic faerie princess.

Now that that's established, I thought it might be amusing to list all of my past LJs... all the ones I can remember. I'm sure there are more:
